Tours

We've been getting a lot of calls over the last few months (a lot this week) about tours of the brewery. People visit our tour registration page and realize that our tours are booked up into 2012. We realize that's ridiculous and we would like to get more people in to take a look at the machine and listen to us blather, but there isn't any more time in the week, unless we compromise our sanity. We take 60 registered tour folks per week, and for now, that's all we can handle.

We do try to squeeze in a couple extra folks last minute, but that doesn't always work out.

We will get our best people into some sort of think tank environment and try to work through the code until we figure a way for you, the tour hungry, to get in this place. Till then, please hang tight.

Cheers,

Callow Knife

We will not be releasing Callow Knife tomorrow.

A little of this and some of that and delay ensues.
This upcoming week is going to be a bear, but we'll serve it up as soon we're able.

Till Then,

Wearin' It Wednesdays

From now on, our store will host a new Wednesday special we're calling "Wearin' It Wednesdays."

We have a lot of customers that wear their Half Acre gear with pride and now we will reward those flying the colors on Wednesdays. If you come in to our brewery store wearing Half Acre gear, then you get an automatic 10% off on any Half Acre product.

Our way of saying, sweet threads man.

Today is the first day, so lets hope you chose wisely this morning when covering your frame.

Cheers,

Callow Knife

We've been brewing some hoss beers as of late. Beers that have been tipping the octane scales and are dark as tar. To round out the spectrum and mix up the seasonal heft, we brewed a session pale ale called, Callow Knife, to join cold spell. This beer is a malt twin to Daisy Cutter, but we dry hopped the snot out of it with Falconer and Citra hops. These are new hops to our brewery and ones we were eager to get in the tank.

We brewed a bunch of it to ride out winter and sidecar all the larger beers we're brewing this season.

We should release next Friday Jan 28. It will be draft only, but, of course, we are working up Tshirts to commemorate the Callow Knife.

The Cans

Over the last month we've had a rough and tumble relationship with our canning line. That surly pile of wires and stainless will get the best of you if you're not careful. We've had the opportunity to look deep into its mechanical bits and come out with better understanding and respect.
So we move forward, the wiser.

With that, we bring you Over Ale cans.
We'll begin to can this beer in the next couple weeks.

Over Ale has been a beer we've brewed for a while. Maybe you've had the chance to take this beer for a spin over the years, maybe not. It's a different beer; one we love to drink. Over Ale is a brown beer that straddles style and lands in a place of its own. Kind of like that uncle you may have had growing up -- the single one that you didn't really know what he did or exactly where he lived, but he drove a sweet car and was a blast to have around during family events. Over Ale is that beer.

So you decide, it's quite possibly exactly what you think it is.

Chocolate Camaro

Chocolate Camaro is resting inside kegs and ready to flow.
Stouts are a style that everyone here at Half Acre solidly gets behind and this beer will be enjoyed by our brewery a great deal, hopefully you'll find it a welcome addition to your winter season.

Chocolate Camaro rests at a bit over 6% abv and warms with chocolate and roast. The lactose lends ample sweetness without tipping into the realm of candy.

We release the beer at 12pm this Friday 1/21
This is a growler only beer. Fills are $15 ($19 if you need to purchase a growler).

T-shirts will be available, and who doesn't want to emblazon themselves with a chocolate Camaro?

Happy Stouting,

2'$DAY

Denizens of the craft beer blogosphere, be advised:
Tuesdays will from this point forward now be known as 2'$DAY, when all growler sales will cost $2 less than they would any other day of the week. Oh, and the Tuesday store crew is extra-cuddly.

Sometimes....

We brew beer, yes........... but sometimes the magic spills over into our company kitchen.

Occasionally, things like this flow out.

Good idea, maybe not. Do I feel sick, yes I do, but the creativity need not be hindered.

Good Day,

Half Acre Beer Co

PS: Thanks to Sally for making us the chocolate, butterscotch, toffee cookies. The Fluff was ours.

Chocolate Camaro

2010 was a good year for Half Acre.
We were able to take part in a bunch of great events, brew a lot of the beers we wanted to brew and meet a ton of people that enjoy beer and Chicago.

One beer that we aimed to brew, but couldn't squeeze in, was Chocolate Camaro, a chocolate milk stout brewed with nibs and lactose. So, we gave 2011 a kick-start and threw that mother into the tank right quick.

Coincidentally, I just realized, this beer might make it to Valentines Day, so you can grab your someone special a little bit of sweet in the form of torque thrusting muscle chunk & a T-shirt to go with it.

(this is a draft only beer)

A couple weeks till we release this one, so hang tight.

Cheers,
